EFEKTIVITAS MODEL PROBLEM BASED INSTRUCTION BERBANTUAN JIGSAW PUZZLE TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH SISWA KELAS VII SMP N 2 BANJARANGKAN

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji keefektifan model Problem Based Instruction berbantuan jigsaw puzzle terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain post-test only control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Kelas VII SMP N 2 Banjarangkan yang berjumlah 164 orang. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan teknik clustered random sampling dengan uji kesetaraan menggunakan uji-t dua ekor. Data kemampuan pemecahan masalah dikumpulkan dengan tes berbentuk uraian (essay) di akhir pertemuan (post test). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji-t satu ekor yaitu ekor kanan dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh rata-rata skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah kelas eksperimen adalah 62,571, sedangkan kelas kontrol adalah 49,428. Hasil pengujian dengan uji-t diperoleh  = 2,11 dan  = 2,00 sehingga . Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa model Problem Based Instruction berbantuan jigsaw puzzle efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampaun pemecahan masalah matematika siswa.

This research is aimed to investigate the effectivenes of Problem Based Instruction learning model with assistance of jigsaw puzzle towards problem solving ability in learning mathematics. This study is a quasi-experimental research with post-test only control group as its design. The population of this study was seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Banjarangkan amounted to 164 students. The sample of this study was chosen by using clustered random sampling technique, and the equality of population was done by two side t-test formula. The data of students’ mathematic problem solving ability were collected by using mathematic problem solving ability test in the form of essay. The collected data were analyzed by using one side t-test formula. The result of data analysis showed that the average of students’ whose taught by using Problem Based Instruction learning model with assistance of jigsaw puzzle is 62,571 and those who were taught by using conventional teaching technique is 49,428. The result of this study indicate that learning using Problem Based Instruction learning model with assistance of jigsaw puzzle is effective in improving mathematic problem solving ability. It shown by the result of T-test with t-value is 2,11 and t-table is 2,00.
